Robotic technology has untapped potential to make agriculture even more efficient, accelerate the sustainable transition, and improve working conditions for agricultural workers. The use of augmented and extended reality (AR/XR) is a new approach in agricultural contexts.

The AgRibot project is a European initiative, and the vision is to ensure an efficient, sustainable, and safe agricultural sector using new robotic technologies as well as augmented and extended reality technology (AR/XR).

At the Danish Technological Institute, we are proud to contribute to the AgRibot project, which is being carried out across Europe with 18 partners. In the project, new technologies are tested and evaluated against current standards. Safety is a key focus to ensure correct procedures and proper use of the new technology in agriculture.
As part of AgRibot, pilot projects are also being conducted in Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, and Spain, where everything from seeding to spraying and harvesting methods is tried out in practice.

Our role in the project is to investigate the safety of field robots and to lead a pilot study on the use of robotic technology for precision spraying to control weeds in potato fields.
